Organic Gardens Live Plants

We are excited to be able to offer live, organically grown vegetables , perennials and annuals in 2022!! We will also have fresh vegetables, when they're available. Currently nothing is for sale, but you'll find a list below of some of the things coming available. Expect the list to change often, and a means to buy them when they become available.

Tomato Plants

Cherry Tomatoes

We carry two varieties that are great in hanging baskets and one indeterminate variety.

Cherry Falls

Compact plants that are perfect for containers and large hanging baskets where the vines and clusters of tomatoes descend for easy picking. Vigorous vines produce an abundant crop throughout the growing season. Quick to mature as well, so not much time spent waiting on this one to start producing.

Pear Drop

$4ea.

Another compact plant that is perfect for containers and large hanging baskets. Super sweet yellow, pear shaped cherry tomatoes that rarely make it into our house when picked. High in vitamin c and lycopene.

Cherry Baby

An indeterminate, or cordon Hybrid tomato, ‘Cherry Baby’ produces bright red, round fruit, which are held in cascading trusses, ripening throughout the summer months and into early autumn.  

Honey Delight

These are here with the cherry tomatoes because size wise, they are between cherry tomatoes and slicing tomatoes. They produce delicious 4oz fruit that can be sliced or used in salads. 


Sauce Tomatoes

SuperSauce

The world's biggest sauce tomato!! Weighing in at 2 lb., 5.5" tall x 5" wide, SuperSauce produces gallons of delicious sauce from a single plant harvest - one tomato fills can fill an entire sauce jar. Very few people in the gardening world consider a paste tomato for anything other than making paste or sauce but Super Sauce is tasty on a hamburger as well.

Terra Cotta

Incredible flavor, color and history! Introduced in 1893 by James Thorburn of New York. With honey-brown skin, orange-pink flesh, and green seed mass, this is an eye-catching slicer with an out-of-this-world flavor. The tomato produces heavily during mid-season and then drops off quickly once cool weather sets in.

Pepper Plants

Sweet Peppers

Cherry Stuffer Hybrid -  The Cherry Bomb pepper with the heat dialed down and the sweet turned up. Cherry Stuffer produces bushels of 2" delectable, snackable, stuffable, grillable peppers. Perfect for stuffing and pickling.

Etuda Pepper

$4ea.

Rich, sweet, citrus flavor! Noted as one of the easiest to grow and most adaptable sweet peppers with outstanding flavor, it is sugary sweet when ripe. Blocky, thick-walled orange fruits are crisp, very sweet and juicy. These mandarin-orange bells can reach up to a half-pound in weight, and are lavishly produced on tall plants. Originally a Polish commercial variety, Etiuda is equally at home under row cover, in the greenhouse, or out in the garden.

Purple Beauty

Reliable and well-adapted plants produce high yields of this delicious onyx-colored pepper. These compact plants average 18 inches in height, with large, 4-inch black fruit that ripen to deep purple. These gorgeous peppers are flavorful, crisp and juicy with a thick wall, perfect raw or cooked. Note these peppers will lose their color in cooking.

Annuals

Amaranth - "Love Lies Bleeding"

Easy to grow, big-framed plants that thrive even in poor soil and hot conditions reaching 3-4 feet tall, adding rich color  to the garden. Their colorful tassels are ideal decorative vase flowers.

Coleus - Chocolate Covered Cherry

$4ea.

This impressive variety performs well in planters and small space gardens in both sun and shade. Great for planting in combinations with impatiens and begonias. The rose center on each leaf is surrounded by deep mahogany and edged with a thin green margin.

Coleus - Rainbow Mix

The best and brightest colors of medium-sized leaf varieties. Spectacular for beds, borders as well as containers.

Cosmidium, Phillipine

$4ea.

Bicolor 1" blooms with purple-brown disks, circled by henna-toned petals edged in yellow orange. Alluring, well-branched, 16" tall plants mix prettily with zinnia, centaurea or dwarf sunflowers in the border or container.

Johnny Jump Ups

$4ea.

Heirloom’s delicately fragrant flowers are edible and make delightful garnishes. Happily, self-sowing in the shade of summer plants, violas are cheerful surprises in the cool months. ‘Johnny- Jump Up’ is tricolored in bright-purple, yellow, and white. Will rebloom in fall if cut back in the heat of summer. Winter hardy.

Nasturtiums - Fordhook Favorite

Charming variegated nasturtium with cream and green striped lily pad leaves. The mounding, compact foliage is covered with spurred flowers in an assortment of bright colors. The flowers attract hummingbirds and are great on large borders or climbing up trellises.

Nasturtiums - Jewel Mix

This lovely annual will have blooms from June until first frost. The blossoms are 2 - 3 inches across and come in shades of red, orange and yellow. 

Zinnia - Cactus Mix

Narrow, quilled petals give these heirloom zinnias extra panache. This mix offers double and semi-double flowers up to 5" diameter in scarlet, rose, orange, white and yellow. Unequaled for cut flowers. Cut-and-come-again flower, yielding multiple cuts over the season

Zinnia - Forecast Mix

‘Forecast’ is a long-lasting zinnia that will bloom endlessly and is tenacious enough to thrive in virtually any conditions.  It bears purple, pink, orange, salmon, yellow or cream petals that surround bright-yellow stamens for a 2-3" across bloom. No matter the weather, ‘Forecast’ is for gorgeous zinnias—all summer long.

Zinnia - Jazzy Mix

Zinnia elegans ‘Forecast’ is a mixture of single and double flowers in an exotic mixture of purple, pink, orange, salmon, yellow and cream shades. Their cut-and-come-again nature means you can fill your vases with these beautiful blooms without losing your outdoor display!

Perennials

Lupine

$4ea.

Very striking, bold upright spikes are dense with pea-like flowers in intense blues to creams. Best placed at the back of the border for cutting or naturalizing. Stately 3 spikes in wide color range and many lovely bicolor, bloom from May to June. Attractive foliage. Prefers cool weather.

Black Eyed Susan

$4ea.

Bright-yellow, 2-3 in. wide, daisy-like flowers with dark centers are its claim-to-fame. They occur singly atop 1-2 ft. stems. The stems and scattered, oval leaves are covered with bristly hairs. Coarse, rough-stemmed plant with daisy-like flower heads made up of showy golden-yellow ray flowers, with disk flowers forming a brown central cone.
